REQUIRED VACCINATIONS

For the safety of your pet and all the animals in our care, we require proof of specific vaccinations for dogs and cats.

Dogs:

  • Rabies (required)
  • Distemper Series (required)
  • Bordetella (required) – We require the Bordetella vaccine to be given every six (6) months.  We prefer the vaccine to be given eight (8) to ten (10) days before boarding.
  • Canine Influenza (required) – This is a two (2) series vaccine.  The first one is given, and then two (2) to four (4) weeks later the second one is given.  If necessary, we will board the dog between the first and second shots.
Cats:

  • Rabies
  • Feline Distemper Series
  • Feline Leukemia – All cats must test negative for feline leukemia/FIV.  This is a blood test.  If your cat is strictly an indoor cat, we require proof that it has tested negative for Feline Leukemia.  If your cat is an indoor/outdoor cat, we need documentation of both a negative Feline Leukemia test and a current Feline Leukemia vaccine.
  • All vaccines must be current and verified by documentation from your veterinarian.  You may have your veterinarian fax us a copy of your pet’s current records, or you can fax them, scan them or bring a copy with you when you check your pet in.

Cats: We use Avoderm cat dry food and Fancy Feast wet cat food.

If your pet has any special dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know when you make your reservations.

FOOD FROM HOME

Policies at Paws Awhile Pet MotelYou are more than welcome to bring your pet’s regular food from home.  We do understand that some pets are on special diets.  If you are planning on bringing your pet’s food, we request that exact portions be measured out and put into Zip-Lock baggies with your pet’s name on each bag.  Please do not bring large bags of dog food unless your pet is staying with us for an extended period of time.

BEDDING AND TOYS

We no longer accept bedding brought from home.  We provide lots of comfy blankets and fleeces and we have special beds for our geriatric clients and those recovering from surgery.  You are welcome to bring one or two toys, or something that smells like home, but please be aware that loss or damage to these articles may occur.  Since we change bedding at least once a day or more, sometimes toys end up in the wash and are not ready to go home when you check-out your pet.  If this happens, we are more than happy to bring the toy(s) to you or keep them till your pet’s next visit.
